"Lower percentages of Asian students - mostly schools in either southeastern Fairfax or Reston/Herndon]" haha. I don't think you know what you are talking about. Reston and especially Herndon are filled with people of Indian origin. |
There is a big difference between East Asian and South Asians and even among South Asians, different countries as I think you may know, are not just not friends, there are major issues between them so what you really want to know is where are the Indian students and PPs are clubbing all Asians together like Fairfax county does. Unless someone has personal experience it is hard to know so that's understandable. You want LCPS. In Fairfax, your best bet is Chantilly (Centerville and Fairfax are not that good in terms of ranking) since your family can't do Langley and Mclean. There are some in Oakton. Woodson has more East Asians. |

I find this interactive tool more useful. YMMV.
"https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/9e1c5cf2d3c74a95820fff9fcb92cdc2" It works better from a computer than from a tablet or phone in my own experience. |
Well, you’re asking about Woodson. There are lots of East Asian students, not as many south Asian but still some. There is generally lots of diversity and we are very happy with that. DD (S Asian) graduated recently and had friends of all races, including South Asian. It works well for us, and I didn’t want things to be so intense as in some of the schools with lots of S Asians. My kids have been able to do well without comparing themselves to others or to feel really stressed out. |

Too thrilled to have imported lots of people who bring their political/religious/cultural grudges with them and keep the beef alive! |
Does anyone have the breakout of high schools by caste? |
Asian American here. I feel like our school is TOO Asian. My kid’s AAP class is majority Asian, more East Asians than South Asians in McLean. |
Assuming most of the students are American citizens, they are now Americans. Whey not just find a good group of American kids to coexist with. Is it really necessary to try to divide by ethnicity? |
I am S Asian, and honestly this isn’t the case IME. It’s either kids who are happy to find common cultural ground, even if their native countries don’t get along, or kids who want to hang out with people who speak the same language or maybe really religious kids who wants friends who are the same. I do not see that suburban kids are bringing their parents’ geo-political struggles to school. I’m not sure if this poster is somewhere else or just wanted to bring in their knowledge of world politics. |
