"It was absolutely my pleasure to crush a white nationalist insurrection" - DC police officer

My favorite part of the story is the 10 year old girl in Montana who was so worried about him and sent him a card. They’ve been able to connect over zoom. So sweet! https://people.com/human-interest/girl-get-well-card-to-injured-capitol-officer/

When asked what he would say to those who assisted him, he responded “Thank you and why the f*ck are you here?”

This can never be allowed to happen again.

If we don't want this to happen again we have to find a way to remove Fox. These people who attacked the Capitol believed lies.

Maybe we should invest more in education so people understand lies when they hear them, rather than censor the media. I don’t want to live in a country where a bunch of hateful left-wingers get to decide who is allowed to speak.

NP: I agree with that. At the same time, I think there should be some way to more clearly delineate "news" from opinion pieces and "info-tainment".

They crushed nothing? So the insurrectionists weren’t pushed out?

Yes, there were some who were complicit, but let’s not be delusional about what 98% of the officers there did.

Majority of the cops are good. Some cops are very bad. The good cops should not shield bad cops.

He was failed by his management.

You and I spend $500 MILLION of our tax dollars on the Capitol Police and they were woefully underprepared.

This. And I’d argue the police unions are even more culpable regarding shielding officers from discipline. Still, most cops are good.

They were left to hang by the federal refusal to deploy the National Guard. Which likely was a political decision from the top.

I don't think Fox is the problem, they have been doing the same shit for the last 30 years. The problem is our elected officials.

right?? and the other two MPD who have been in the news (Fanone and Albright) are hunks. I would not kick any of them out of bed.

If Hodges is single, WaPo needs to do a datelab for him.

This. The vast majority of complaints about “the media,” on both sides, are referencing commentary/analysis rather than actual reporting.

The prime reason we're seeing LEOs turning in the LEOs who attacked the Capitol is because they harmed fellow LEOs. Even the FOP pulled away from protecting the attacking LEOs, because they don't want to explain to their population why they didn't protect the attacked LEOs.

Otherwise, it's very dangerous for what we call "good" cops to turn in or fail to shield "bad" cops. Why? Because the "good" cops don't want to find themselves like Frank Serpico, going in on a drug bust and then finding that his backup has vaporized. If "bad" cops don't get removed, then they and other "bad" cops will remember your failed effort to turn one of them in.

Fox has been getting more and more extreme for 30 years.

Remember how they used to falsely claim “Fair and Balanced?”
Now they’ve given up on the pretense.

Remember when they had Alan Colmes on with Hannity because they needed a token weak liberal as a fig leaf to cover up Hannity’s lies?
Now they just air Hannity’s lies straight, and they’ve added Carlson and Ingraham.

Fox bears a big fraction of the burden for the radicalization that led to 1/6.
Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch did this to us. For money.
