Well I had to hire a nanny because schools were closed so if teachers who are not teaching in person can get vaccinated then so should nannies who actually see and take care of kids in person

Teachers are exposed to every child in the class, and through the children, to every member of their family.

A nanny is exposed to 1-3 families.

Nannies should be waiting. We’re not frontline, and we’re only essential if our employers are essential.

-Nanny, whose employers are not essential

PP again. The point to vaccinating teachers is to get them back in the classroom.

Nanny here- I already got vaccinated under the childcare tier. Just write your nanny a letter and she can show her paystub. It helped that I’m paid by HomePay, to show that. The INA (international nanny association) sent a press release asking for us to be vaccinated. My state made me and essential worker, so I printed out that as well.

Why do you make blanket statements? Los Angeles county for example made nannies essential workers and you didn’t have to work for essential worker employers. 10 million people in LA county! Agencies are already writing letters for families and nannies so don’t make big statements about all nannies.

The families that use nannies can just F'in wait, OTOH the nannies may not have a job without a vaccine...

Nanny here- I got the vaccine. Please don’t listen to people telling you you need to wait. I live alone but many nannies don’t and they often work for other families. They have been working through the pandemic and are many times at risk because often families don’t follow lockdown rules.

I brought my paystub, a letter from my employer, my tax return that said I was a nanny, a letter from my agency that placed me with the family, a statement from my county/state saying I was an essential worker, and the INA press release.

They barely looked at my info and I got the vaccine. I think a pay stub, employer letter, and or agency letter would be sufficient. Some agencies are recommending families go on Etsy or whatever and make their nanny a badge that says they are a nanny or a childcare provider, since we don’t have actual credentials but that’s what we do and we are important to so many families right now.

My state actually thinking I’m special and made me an essential worker, as a ‘nanny’, so I am actually special and already got my first dose of the vaccine.

YOU can wait your turn.

nannies who got vaccinated, can you say your county? that would greatly help as every county is doing things differently

This doesn't make them special or allow them to go to the head of the line. They wait their turn just like the rest of us like my 80 year old relative who abides by wearing a mask, keeping 6 foot distance and washing her hands. Teach your kids to do the same.
