At this age group, it’s a bit of a surprise but I’ve seen Arlington, Great Falls and Falls Church 5/6 Gr teams. All three are really good and dominated fall box.
Pride Red is better, but Pride White is definitely worse. I keep seeing people push Stars on here but they are not very good at this year at least. Bethesda and Next Level are about equivalent. A step below Pride Red but their 5th Gr 2028 teams are not as good as these NoVA 5/6 rec teams, which could be an age thing. VA Metro 2028 is not as good as Next Level or Bethesda based on head-to-head but they have good teams at other age levels. But honestly, if you live in VA, your best option is probably to play for Great Falls, Arlington or Falls Church through 6th and then try out for Pride Red. |
| Your not allowed to pick your Rec team in VA. NVYLL allows you to play on a rec team based on their high school pyramid. Just an fyi |
True, but I believe there can be some overlap in the rec programs. |
Some overlap but still based on HS pyramid. It is also possible to apply for a transfer but must be approved by your home team. The good rec teams in box were primarily stocked with kids who also play club. The quality of instruction is no where close to club at the rec level. |
| Lots of talk about VA teams but what’s the best option if we’re trying to stay in MoCo? |
BLC or Next Level. The BLC team is bigger so probably more playing time at Next Level. About the same in quality. |
Next Level is a good option for that |
