Why are men like this?

I just started "dating" a guy who is way out of my league. He's used to dating 20s hotties, while I'm a mid-30s single mom. I was upfront with him that I wasn't going to put out, I wasn't interested in flirting, I wanted to get to know him as a person first before getting physically involved. He's made a couple moves and I shut it down immediately.

Dude can't get enough of me. Calls me multiple times a day. Constantly wants to FaceTime or hang out. He cancels plan with other women to spend time with me, but has never cancelled on me.

Last night he admitted he likes that I'm not easy. He complains that the other women he's seeing are TOO into him, use sex to try to win him over, and can't hold a conversation without sexual undertones.

Looking back, the times men have been the most into me was when I had very strict rules about not getting physical too soon.

What's up with this, guys? Is it the thrill of the chase? Madonna/whore complex? You want what you can't have?

He does it to every women. There are men like this like ...just like there women who follow rules.

what's gross is that you think a guy is a catch that is sleeping around with women 20 years younger than him.

Bingo.

LOl. I value myself. Sometimes I want sex and sleep with someone on a first date. I am still as awesome as I would be if I hadn't. This is stupid, mysoginistic thinking.

OP, it is at least partly the chase. He is intrigued. Once you have sex I bet he backs off.

OP, there's a reason why you're single. You need to stop playing games. It's not cute at your age.

Men love the chase. Remember when “the rules” was a popular book. People complained it was sexist but it definitely draws men in.

A gentleman is just a patient wolf. You are a project to him. A conquest. Meanwhile he's not hurting for sex with his young side chicks.

Using sex as a tool is a great way to start a relationship. Please report back.

And then they marry these types of women because they think they are so chaste, but then complain down the line about their wives not giving them sex.

I called it off. He's an interesting person, we have a lot in common, and I'm down for being friends, but he's not what I'm looking for. I did say we can maybe try again in a year or two, once we know each other better.

He said he's okay with just friendship, but we'll see.

I certainly wasn't expecting to and it just seemed odd to me that she felt the need to say it. Nothing wrong with taking time to get to know someone before the physical stuff but to me it's just something that doesn't need to be said unless what you mean is it's going to be a really long time (like months) before there's physical stuff.

Unrelated and maybe I'm old fashioned but I think it's rude to cancel plans with other people to hang with someone else and for that reason alone I wouldn't proceed with someone like that.

+1 agree that it’s rude of him to cancel on other women to see you; he has shown that he has the capacity to be very inconsiderate and immature. And the way he perceives women as a “they” rather than unique individuals and seems to demean them for their sexual interest in him - what an a$$. Just because he hasn’t canceled on you, too doesn’t make him less of a jerk. He seems primarily interested in you for the challenge, first and foremost.

Are you actually interested in dating this guy? It sounds like it would be one long game - who has time for that crap in their thirties?

You’re playing games, he’s playing games. Everyone’s happy.

Sounds like you are a little too high on YOURSELF! Haahaahaa. Have a hard time believe this story. Some hot 20 year old guy who can get sex from other attractive girls is chasing only after you? Sure. Okay. Besides, you know the answer to your question. This post is just looking for attention.

Why are men not valued if they have sex on the first date but women are not valued if they have sex on the first date? Newsflash: Woman want sex too.
