No thanks. I lived through the last recall circus and we ended up with someone worse. |
Newsom is up for reelection next year so why can’t people wait until then instead of throwing the state into more turmoil and costing us taxpayers $66 million? Infuriating. |
Because republicans are crazy. |
+1. Another attempt by the Republicans to grab power: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.politico.com/amp/news/2021/02/11/california-newsom-recall-republicans-468747 |
We’re more likely to end up with another Republican blowhard who gets nothing done. |
Newsom won't lose a recall. There are multiple Republicans running and it will divide the GOP vote. Meanwhile, Democrats are fairly united behind Newsom -- even progressive ones who are furious at him. |
| I'm in the Bay Area and I don't know a single democrat who will vote for Newsom. Maybe LA is different now that LA schools are opening full time. But up north, everyone will vote for whomever is the second democrat. |
Well lets not get ahead of ourselves… they're saying this line in the news but I'm not aware of any actual full time school openings yet (and as a private school parent, even when LAUSD opens it doesnt mean we are - this much I've learned the last few months). |
| I’m in LA and think most people who aren’t crazy support Newsom. |
I'm in LA also, and I think lots of reasonable people want to recall him. I think the recall has picked up steam, which is why he re-allowed outdoor dining (not because covid cases were going down) But I don't get who would want to be a Democrat and run against him, because if you lose that one you are so screwed in your own party. |
I don’t believe there is a second Democrat. |
I haven’t heard any Democrat is going to be on the ballot against him in the recall. The choices will be Newsom and various GOP candidates, and fringe people. Newsom will win. When he is up for re-election, lots of Dems will run against him. I think some Dems have gotten increasingly progressive and they are alienating other Democrats like myself who are more centrist and not so ideological. |
Okay but I *think* the ballot looks like this: Question 1: Shall Gavin Newsom be recalled? (Y/N) Question 2: Who should replace him? (Larla Smith, Larlo Jones, Larlita Johnson....) So it doesn't matter if the field is divided, it's first, if he gets recalled, second, who gets the most votes. |
Actually, keeping schools closed is crazy. Why doesn’t he push to open schools and prevent all of this! |
| Front page of the LA Times today about him switching around on opening schools, implied that he's doing so because he's afraid of the recall |
