This. You can put yourself a in jeopardy, but to put others in jeopardy is the absolutely height of selfishness. |
yes. Their request is reasonable. |
I’m sorry I wasn’t clear!! My sons go to different schools. One son’s school is requiring quarantine after travel - the other is not. If they stick with this protocol, we will keep YDS out for 2 weeks since there were families who traveled over thanksgiving and didn’t quarantine, which resulted in a positive case. I’d like to point out to the owner that this is not an imposition - everyone is requiring it! Anyone care to share the name of their center/school? |
Yes our daycare is doing this as well. And I fully support it. |
Our daycare (in NoVA) has requested that we remain home if we come into contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of covid over the holidays. I really wish they would do something like this instead. We pulled our DD out when her class was quarantined due to a positive teacher 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and don’t plan to return until mid-January. We will be seeing local grandparents for Christmas.
I mean, really...staff is just as guilty of this behavior as families are. The positive cases at our daycare have all been staff members, and they were all due to contacts and activities outside of daycare. |
Yes, our daycare did this for Thanksgiving and are asking the same for Christmas. I would be more concerned if they didn’t. |
We got that email for Thanksgiving, saying if you travel to or host someone coming from a state with covid above XYZ metrics, your child cannot return for 14 days. The metrics used were so high/permissible/generous I was actually disappointed they were being so lenient. It's a daycare with over 100 kids. Don't let the 1 or 2 reckless idiots ruin it for the rest. |
Our private school just went remote around holidays and is requiring a test to return. So that’s the alternative. But I assume you want in person care. |
I think its responsible and reasonable. DD's school did this for Thanksgiving, I assume the same for Christmas. We are making our plans around this expectation. |
I think it's reasonable. Our daycare has done really well so far and would hate to see it spoiled by families travelling for the holidays. We are heeding the guidance of health experts and staying put. |
Our school/daycare sent a similar email and decided that instead of being open on the 28-31 for care, they will close and will therefore be closed from the 24-3rd to reopen Monday 4th.
Its really unfortunate because they arent able to trust parents to do the right thing and people think there is so ambiguity on who they can spend Xmas with. Note- there is none. |
Why is traveling any different than families who will hire different childcare when daycare is closed? Or kids whose parents interact with lots of people every day (by necessity or by choice)? You have to accept the risk of daycare. It sucks that society has made this so hard, with a lack of parental leave, family leave, and ill conceived covid measures (or lack of any measures). Also do you really think the employees and directors won't meet with local family? Or won't take a temporary job given their pay? Or babysit even? You are all trying to fight human nature. |
Me too. Over Thanksgiving, we drove to our vacation home with just our family, but we still quarantined because DH went to the grocery store once. I'm sure our situation isn't what the policy is for, but I need to follow it if others are. |
Thank you for making an unnecessary sacrifice. |
Same here. 100% |
