I hope you realize MRM has Rec, Select (Classic) and Travel, but MRM’s travel program is bigger and better than that of MSI. MSI is better than MRM for Rec and Classic.
I never understood the difference between "select/classic" and travel. Haven't seen that any of the VA clubs. Is that just higher level rec? Please explain. TIA.
rec - which many kids play for fun or just start out in. They have a MSI rec league and many travel players play in it to play with their friends from their neighborhood or school.
Classic - little higher level - most kids many do classic because they want to play more and get better, typically more practices per a week vs rec, and the level is a little better. Typically coaches have ussf license but sometimes it is a "dad" coaching.
Travel - your Bethesda, Potomac, MRM clubs. Way more serious 3-4 practice a week may more tournaments and leagues are all over the places.
This is also a way for a "club" to in travel to go to classic or rec games and be able to "recruit" a player that might stand out and bring them to their club. Sometimes those players can't afford club soccer or just didn't know what to do to sign up.
Lastly, some "clubs" provide "rec" and "classic" level to have a bigger pool of players in their club to help lower cost. Bethesda and Columbia do this well.
