Most overrated school popular on DCUM?

See #16 - #99 on any USNEWs list.

Or any college with all-in cost greater than $50,000. The price tag is the cachet.

SMCM, but not for long. It went from #92 to #80 for National LACS in the USN&WR rankings this year.

GWU? I'm being facetious, but trying to fish for some opinions. I know Dcum hates GWU. My kid likes the students and Foggy Bottom is cool for school. He's applying to Biz school. He's very politically articulate. Thinks it will be intriguing. We live in NY btw.

Sadly, this is true. Colleges should not be 80K a year.

Supply and demand. Right now, there’s increased demand compared to 20-40 years ago. College is now seen as the next logical step for more people than before rather than a trade or some other vocation.

Not post Covid. Not without the internationals bankrolling the system. A lot is about to change.

Yes, but extremely pricey unless you live in VA. We're in MD and out of state tuition is as much as a private.

I had a decent experience there, and have kind of kept in touch. The Department of Economics is both teaching-focused and interested in their undergrads.

The central bureaucracy is willing to carve out exceptions for policies when needed.

It's a spectacularly expensive school, though.

On this forum, I'd say UVA is generally overrated. But the question of "most underrated popular school" is odd.
