I had a great experience at Washington Radiology Associates in Fairfax. They have many locations, but I can only attest to the Fairfax location. Good luck! |
I had a good experience at Shady Grove Radiology. I had a bad experience at Community Radiology -- now, CR has several locations, so maybe it was just this one and this one tech, but my provider also rolled her eyes when I told her about it, and said I should go to Shady Grove Radiology instead the next time. And it was indeed much better. (Note that SGR is not located in the SG hospital -- there are several locations.) |
PP here - I should have been more specific about the bad experience at CR. I felt the tech rushed me, didn't listen to me, and didn't communicate well with me (she didn't speak great English). She was dismissive of my questions. And I learned later that she had not adequately measured everything she was supposed to, so I had to have another ultrasound the next week (I went elsewhere).

Ha! Try having twins...I've had at least a dozen U/Sounds and am grateful for them..
I think it's silly for the Trolls to cast judgment on others...U/Sounds ARE safe... My twins, by the way, are rockin' and scoring out of the ballpark on all tests. As to where to go, I've been disappointed by Wash Radiology on K Street...they now have residents and fellows there every other month...for my 20 week scan, a Very Important one for twins, I got stuck with a dimwit fellow from G'town who didn't know what she was doing... later, I got the best person there at my 32 week scan, but she was so by the book it was a cold experience. So, when you call for an appt, make sure you indicate NO one in training for your U/S... g'luck |
I feel horrible for berating the poster whose satirical comment was just that. She is very funny when one reads her post understanding her intentions.
And her follow up of "now I will go eat a turkey sandwich while riding a dolphin" almost made me snort coffee out of my nose. That's right, I said coffee. ![]() |
I would avoid Groover, Christie and Merritt -- they were abrupt, disinterested, and didn't offer pictures.
Washington Radiology, Healthsouth, and Georgetown all were much better experiences for me. The technician took her time, took good pictures and seemed happy to see the baby. |
I second the PP's comments on Drs. Groover, Christie and Merritt. They are in Sibley which is where my OB delivers. I found the receptionist to be rude and the tech unprofessional (her cell phone rang in the middle of the exam and she picked it up -- she told me she was "curious" to see who was calling so it didn't seem to be a medical or personal emergency). The tech did not communicate what she was looking at during the exam, something I'd expected.
The tech did give me a couple pictures without me having to ask for them. |
I really like washington radiology. my favorite location is the one in Chevy Chase. very nice staff. |
I had my 20week at the Antenatal Center at Fair Oaks Hosp. The tech, Tamara, also works at the Fairfax Hosp location. She was AWFUL! Avoid if possible.
I left crying. The registration desk was so disorganized...should have been a sign it was going to be a bad morning. So we get to the center and they call me back and start the scan. Start to finish, it was only about 15 minutes! I felt like she just quickly looked and didn't take much time to look at much in detail. She didn't say a word or tell us what she was looking at or doing. I had to ask her "is that the arm or leg" etc...and it didn't seem like she looked at everything she was supposed to. I remember with DS, the tech looked at the umbilical cord to see how many vessels were in it and whether the blood flow was good...or if the baby had a cleft palate or not. This tech just looked around a bit and then said ok...looks good. She almost forgot to ask us if we wanted to know the gender. The pictures she gave us sucked and were just of the face, which I really didn't find really useful (nice to see one of it, but 3 of the face??? come on!). I'm just so unhappy with the way things happened. We did find out gender, but I'm not sure it was right...because it just didn't look like it was right...several times during the scan I thought I saw girl parts, and then when we asked for gender...she said it was a boy...but it didn't look like it was right...not really like it was the penis she showed us...like it was the leg or something...So I'm not completely sure now. It's just sooooo disappointing...I don't know if to complain to my doctor or just deal with having a crappy scan. |
