Achiness and flu-ish feeling after flu shot yesterday

DW and I got ours at the beginning of September. No reaction. Not even a sore arm.

I had general “I feel like I’m coming down with something” blah the day after the flu shot too. It’s pretty common for me, so I didn’t worry too much. Went away. Arm hurt for 2-3 days.

I got mine yesterday and my arm isn’t sore either. It’s a little weird. I was expecting a sore arm. It was the preservative free version, so I wonder if that had anything to do with it. I don’t usually pay attention.

DH and a 95 year old relative have already gotten it. Neither had a reaction beyond a slight sore arm.

A few years ago my DD had a reaction...the evening of the shot she was suddenly feverish with body aches. Doc told us this is a common reaction and should subside within 48 hours...which it did, like clockwork - disappeared as quickly as it arose.

Is it true that we shouldn’t take anything to soothe the aches, like Advil or Tylenol? When my DD has her reaction, I gave her Advil to enable her to sleep comfortably. Does that really detract from the efficacy of the shot??

I Know many people who had a reaction. That’s weird.

I got one this week. Sore arm for about 24 hours. And I felt a little achy about 12 hours after the shot. Went to sleep and felt much better the next morning.

My husband, my 4 year old and I got our shots Friday and the only complaint was from me- a slightly sore shoulder for 24 hrs or so.

Once before I had a very minor sick feeling the night of the vaccine, but otherwise never had a bad reaction until this year. I got the shot last Monday and had fatigue, soreness, and a headache for five days. My DH, who got his with me at my workplace, felt pretty sick for a day or so. It just seems like this year's seems to be causing worse reactions than usual.

The current advice is not to give it pre-vaccine. There is some evidence that it can blunt the immune response. There is no evidence that it does that if given after the vaccine if the child has symptoms.

There is evidence that NSAIDS impact the production of antibodies after vaccination

Yes, I felt flu-ish a day after! Very odd; this seems to happen to me every other year.
