She probably won’t believe you. My SIL’s little dog was never trained. She tried to blame its poops on my kid.

LOL! She tried to say your child stopped and pooped on the floor? That’s incredible.

Yeah. He was a toddler at the time, but no it wasn’t him.

What would be the point of telling her? I would never do that. It's childish.

I would tell her about the poop. Is this a small dog? Sounds like it is not house trained. I would want to know if I were the owner but then again I also would not let me dog out of my sight in an unfamiliar home.

A strange dog will not necessarily understand your house is off limits like their house. Never allow other people’s dogs inside.

This, and it was marking on purpose. Dogs do this.

Trained dogs don't. I've had dogs for 25+ yrs and have never had one do this in someone's house--once they were older than 3-4 months. Small dogs are notoriously harder to housetrain though, and owner's are often much more lax about it since it's easier to deal with a 10 lb who is annoying in some fashion than it is to deal with a 100lb dog who is. Ask your vet..

Her dog was definitely marking your house. It’s unfortunate but common.

I would not tell her about the poop. I’d wait to see if there’s another occurrence where she shows up with her dog.

Then can say “Oh, I didn’t know you’d have Winston with you. I think you remember the last time he was here he had an accident in the house? It wasn’t a big deal, but I never told you that later on I found out he had also pooped in the basement. It may be a territorial thing with my dog. Anyway, let’s figure out a good solution here. We can put him in the backyard or on his leash on the porch while you’re in the house. Or maybe we can reschedule for a time when he can stay home?”

+1. This is by far the best way to handle the situation.

?? I would never say this. I would just say, we can't let the dog in the house. I'm sorry but it upsets our dog.

I would think she would want to know that her dog isn't housebroken in other people's houses.

I thought her dog was just playing with one of my dog’s toys while we talked, but she’s so small and low to the ground that I didn’t realize that it was peeing! My friend said that never happens. I didn’t make a big fuss, pulled out the Nature’s Miracle, and blotted it up. It’s a seagrass rug and moisture sometimes leaves a stain on those, but what’s done is done.

She just left and I realized her dog also pooped in my basement TV room. Should I tell her?

Should I just say I don’t want the dog to come over in the future?

Why are people INSIDE your house right now?

Meet her and that dog outside next time and even all other times re the accidents.

^^Definitely this. I was going to post the same thing, OP.

If it were me and friend brought dog over again, I’d let her know that after they left the last time, I discovered that her dog had marked my house in multiple places and therefore I need her to hold or leash the dog in the house.

Do not allow her dog back in your house. Period.
