DCUM never fails with the self righteousness! So many snobs.
Never We only drink water Coffee stunts teenagers growth! It’s junk |
| I only take them when there’s a good star reward offered. I’ll treat them to their fraps or baked goods, then use the stars on brewed coffee for myself. |
Or maybe we choose to spend our money on better things. I’m poorer than most DCUM posters but I still think it’s crap, overpriced, and I mostly drink water. |

Once a month with her allowance.
$20 a month if the chores are 100% complete. |

Not starbucks but prepandemic my ds really liked fruit smoothies from the fancy grocery store. Sometimes he paid sometimes we paid. He probably got them twice a month.
Since March he just makes smoothies in the blender. He has not been in any stores or restaurants or coffee shops since it started. He doesn't need to. I am shocked people are getting stuff so often. Wow. |
| Pre-covid, going to Starbucks was a social event to do with friends. It’s across the street from our MS distance and she’d go there after school - maybe once or twice a week. But like I said, it was more about the socializing than the actual drink. Now that there’s no meetups with friends at Sbux, never. |
| 14yo son - once or twice a week, I’ll grab him a black tea lemonade, if I’m getting one. Sometimes he’ll say he’s not interested, but usually wants one. |
| Baked goods - once or twice. He is not a coffee, tea, juice drinker. He has access to his dad's starbucks account though! |
| My teen is a lifeguard and has their own money. Goes too frequently for my taste, but it's their money, not mine. |
| We live in an area where the nearest one is a 5 minute car ride and I don’t let our licensed teen drive on those roads yet (family decision), so never. |
DP. It’s possible to just say no without the self-righteous judgment. Over Starbucks. But whatever makes you feel better, I guess. |
On DCUM? IMPOSSIBLE. It’s all they’ve got. Let them have it. |
Old wives tale. It does no such thing. |
| My 16year DD does once a day. With her money. I think it's ridiculous to spend her money on it but it's a ritual she does with her friends. |
