My line didn't darken that much and is playing in the front yard right now FYI.

The darkness of the line depends on both the amount of pregnancy hormone in your pee and the amount of dye in the test. Tests from different lots, even from the same manufacturer, can have different amounts of dye.

TL;DR don't judge anything on darkness of the line.

As someone who has had many chemical pregnancies, light lines too late really are a bad sign. While they’re not a perfect HCG test, they are a rough predictor. Good luck.

Anonymous wrote:How solid the line is doesn't necessarily reflect how pregnant you are. Sometimes very pregnant people get light lines, rather than darker ones. Sometimes, though, that faint line is the evaporation line and not a positive. However, if you have faint color, my guess is that was implantation bleeding and you are pregnant.

Thanks.. I did not know this. With my two previous pregnancies I tested early. Lines were light and then got darker when I tested a few days later. I did have spotting throughout my first trimester with both pregnancies so I do know that it is highly possible to be pregnant and have spotting at the same time. I did have a chemical pregnancy once.. in my twenties. It was unplanned.. period was a week late but with no spotting. I tested and got a faint positive. But then 10 days letter I started bleeding for real and there were clots of blood. When I asked my doctor about it she told me that I probably had a chemical pregnancy.

I had an extremely faint line on the test, assumed I wasn't pregnant and went about with my life. Felt really sick a week later and decided to buy a digital test.

He's 2 now.

+1. Yep, line progression has always been a perfect indicator for me too.

I’d prepare for a chemical. Says a person who’s had 4. Late light lines are bad news. I’m sorry.

Second the prepare for a chemical thought. I always have early lines (before the missed period). But one didn't seem to get dark fast enough. I miscarried

We really can’t tell you without seeing the line but my test line was as dark as the control line around 20-23 DPO with my successful pregnancies. You’d be, what, 18-ish DPO? I would not expect a really faint line at this point but if it’s just not as dark as the control I wouldn’t be worried. Also if you don’t know when you ovulated it’s possible that you’re earlier than you think you are.
