Daycare hours

We always had our kids there from 9-5. But the 4 pm pick up is really killing me. I have to drop off calls at 3:45 to do pick up. Is this a normal end time everywhere now.
? We’ve been told they will revisit hours in the fall but haven’t heard anything. What is everywhere else doing?

Ours reduced hours too to comply with the no mixing of kids rules and the limited staffing since they can't float teachers anymore. Have you shifted your kids hours to do 8-4 instead of 9-5? If you aren't dropping off at 8 I'd try doing that and shifting working hours forward so that end of day is shifted forward too.

Went from 7-6:30pm to 8-6pm. We have a lot of people who commute in with their kids who used to get in super early to beat traffic. With less traffic, I don’t get the sense people mind the shorter hours. Like I have been first to drop off at 8:30 and last to pick up at 5:45

One of our centers is 8:30-5 (used to be 7-6) and one is 8-5 (used to be 7:30-6.)

The centers I know of who are keeping full hours are either a.) in violation of the no mixing policy/ratios/ DC's 2-adults at all times rule OR b.) have enough staff (double) and few enough kids to have staff do 1/2 days so that 1/2 are working in the morning and 1/2 in the afternoon.

It's tough: we have a classroom where only one child is regularly attending (an infant). So we have to have 3 staff to operate it: Two to follow the 2 adult reg and 1 to cover their breaks.

This is OP. I totally get how hard it right now. I am so thankful my daycare/preschool is open. Our family has been there 6 years between our kids and 2 more to go. I’m not going to complain about the time because we are going to make it work. Thank you for everything you do!!

Op here. We shifted to 8:30-4. My kids sleep in until 7:30 (previously I’d let them sleep to 8:15). DH and I love sleeping in so we actually encourage it normally. Love the weekend morning when we sleep in until 9!
