What are your thoughts on missing a couple days of the first week of virtual learning for this?

Only you know your kids. If they will be able to jump back into the routine of school without issue. Go for it!

And as another pp said, don't take away classtime to catch up your daughters with bugs worked out in the first week.

Go, but know that you're forfeiting the higher ground when it comes to any future complaints about your kids connecting with their teachers or classmates, or being able to smoothly get ramped up and learning.

If you take your kids out of school for 3/5 of the first week and then declare DL a disaster because your daughters are having a hard time getting with the program, YATA.

I would go but bring laptops and find internet service somewhere to have girls log in for at least the morning hours wed and Thursday

People are going to skip DL because their kids are stressed or fed up with it. They’re going to skip and go for a walk or read a book. You should definitely skip to go on this trip!

Grow up, PP.

As a teacher, I am not taking time out to give you and your kids extra attention. We are all stressed and I would like to go on vacay to the first couple days of school. We are taking attendance, you know.

Agree to find some wifi away from your yurt for a few hours to go to school.

I’m sure you didn’t bother to give anyone extra attention before, so, why bother now? Oh, and big threats with attendance...ohhh, I know I’m scared! Bring us all before the virtual truancy board.

After a few weeks of this DL garbage, you’re going to be lucky to have 50% of the kids zooming in.

*too. Sheesh, hope my kids don’t get you as their teacher, for multiple reasons.

All of you who have been screaming for months about how important school is have just lost all credibility, especially in the eyes of your children.

DL garbage isn’t school. If you think it’s the same, I’m sorry for your kids that your standards are so low.

I think going camping, even glamming, is a good example of how you can learn things outside of school. Part of why DL isnt working is that it’s based on a very strict structure of “how learning is done”, and now they’re trying to take it to the streets.

I would go too

Go! of course, go! Kids will remember this. if I were you I would not do the DL for these days and just enjoy the time together.
