Compact Luxury SUV

I don’t trust the reliability of anything you suggested. Go with the RDX. The new ones are really nice (2019 model onward)

Q3 might be closer to what the OP is looking for.

Interesting! I was looking at the Q3 and couldn't tell if it would feel too sporty. Which I get the Jeep is sporty (and clearly a no-go!) but somehow feels a little sleeker? But I am totally just looking online at this point.

Thank you DCMom for moving this here. I will be better with figuring out where to post.

Interesting. Thank you. I will look this up.

- Audi Q3
- Acura RDX
- BMW X1
- Volvo XC40

I was thinking the X1 looks more like a car?? Did you consider the X3 and rule it out?

Not even the Volvo?

Q3 is pretty small. My 6'3 DH couldn't really fit in it comfortably. We recently switched to a Q5 and love it. Also looked at the RDX, but liked the Q5 "sporty" feeling better.

Thanks for this. My DH is also tall. I have a black Jeep Sahara and while it is technically sporty, because of the all black, 4 door, it mostly looks super cool to me. (Don't judge.) Plus, it's a lot bigger than what I'm looking at now.

Does anyone have the Land Rover Discovery?

The Wrangler isn't very big. Get a new one. The new ones are very nice.

No. Worst to potentially not so awful on that list would be, IMO, Range Rover, Volvo, Audi, Jeep.

But look, I expect 250,000 mostly trouble-free miles out of cars, and I routinely get that from anything by Honda or Toyota (which makes Acura and Lexus).

Not in a new car will that happen with crappy cvt transmissions.

OP, why not a Mercedes GLC? Mercedes is way ahead of the competition on exterior styling and interior design and the newly face-lifted GLC further widens the gap. I strongly recommend you check one out. Mercedes reliability is decent as well. If you want something even more aggressive, check out the GLC Coupe.

LOL, all of those brands now rank higher than Acura for reliability. Even Lexus is no longer on top. The mighty has fallen. I grew up with Toyotas and Hondas, I know what you mean. But these days, the difference just isn't there anymore and the Europeans have not only caught up, but surpassed the Japanese.

I really like the GLC, but when I've looked online their starting price point is too high. Seems like the others mostly start below and you might end up where the Mercedes starts. But I am also considering a certified pre-owned BMW X3, which is a way that price point comes down.
