The W schools are predominantly White schools except for Wootton. W schools’ average test scores are higher compared to other schools due to the higher concentration of affluent students (or lower number of underprivileged/FARM students).

RM, with it’s IB program, has smarter students, but their entire school average test scores are lower than W schools since they have much less concentration to affluent (higher underprivileged/FARM students).

Keep in mind that affluent parents spend a lot more money hiring tutors, SAT prep courses, C2 Education, etc.

I’m confused. Magruder, Rockvilke and QO has IB programs??

Why is RM’s IB program not good? I’m confused here too. RM (or MCPS) does not create the IB material, as it’s an international program. The same material is taught worldwide.

Unless your DC didn’t get accepted to RM, that’s why you said it’s not good. Please clarify.

^pp is stating that without IB, RM would be nothing. But, this is like stating that without Kentlands, QO would be nothing, or without all the wealthy families, the W schools would be nothing.

All those schools are rated well because of all those factors.

QO focuses too much on athletics. RM is more well rounded. IMO, unless you love HS football, QO is overrated.

WJ: 54% White, 18% Hispanics

It’s not that White are smarter than other races. Just go read the other threads to see how many dumb white people not believing that there’s no pandemic going on in the world right now.

The concentration of affluent people which happens to be whites at these W schools that have money for tutors, etc. Also, the biggest difference is that college grad parents lead to college grad children. Affluent communities typically have college grad parents that embed the importance of education in their children.
