You're absolutely misunderstanding the town hall meeting LMAO. They said NO such thing.

99% of what I heard was about how hybrid would work too.

Yes, they did tell us how hybrid would work but they did not say, "Yes we are doing hybrid."

They clearly said from the beginning if it's safe.

No they showed the same slides they did last week. Do you know who is teaching the distance learning? Do you know how many live lessons are required? How many assignments students have to turn in?

They didn’t tell you anything

Don't enter a conversation if you have no idea what you're talking about. They did talk a lot about hybrid, however they did not say that is what we are doing.

The new info they gave was mostly about protocols and their priorities, if that can be considered 'new.'

No, Melissa Kim repeated the same information about hybrid they have repeated 20 times. They then we took Dr Miserra who kept repeating all the protocols they are developing. They had a chart that said information to come in “the coming weeks”. They had zero specifics. I was at the meeting. They talked about how exciting the “Living History Cornerstone” was going to be. You got no specifics about anything.

Sorry for the typos. They also took no questions. And don’t tell me their “Top 3 Questions” was anything more than plants and rehearsed questions.

I'm asking why you're replying to me when I didn't say they gave specifics lol

Sadly true, complete utter waste of time

100% agree and the delivery was awful.

I asked several questions none of which were touched on in the "top 3."

If I hear about the Cornerstones one more time. . .

I don't want to talk about coronavirus at school. The kids didn't want to talk about coronavirus in the spring. And why are they wasting their time planning what amounts to a timecapsule project (as if that's some new innovative idea) when they have no concrete plans for the fall??

^^ Ditto.

I'm wondering if they have a real comprehensive plan or if they are simply stalling for time. Do they understand simply saying 'it's gonna be awesome' with absolutely no track record or data to back it up doesn't make anyone believe you?

Especially not teachers...
They could have at least given a sample or teaser. Whether it's hybrid or online I am afraid of DCPS leaving teachers to do all the heavy lifting and being blamed for their incompetence.

Teachers - I am so sorry that leadership is a mess. Especially since we have such a bloated central office vs other areas. You would have thought they could create actual plans with all of the resources they have.

All these weeks and no tangible plan or guidance. It’s really frustrating.

Disappointed. Did you notice that they didn’t have a teacher serving on their panel? Lot’s of platitudes and empty words with no specifics. And of course the requisite handbook on protocols and logistics. The money and time they spend on this stuff is so wasteful. It was a giant PowerPoint without specifics, communicated in a patronizing way.

Only maybe four softball questions answered that were unimportant. No teacher present was going to ask about a mask or if we can adjust content on Canvas to serve our diverse learners. Did you notice you couldn’t see any questions in the general channel?

We will be starting from square 1 in early August. They deserve better. I wonder if they’re aware we’ll be using a new platform.

But DCPS teachers make so much money!!!

Sorry, since that is the standard WTU reply whenever anyone says anything nice about a charter I thought it was germane here as well.

I know, cuckoo... We weren't even talking about charters.

Didn’t they say we could review the handbook? If so, any idea where to get that?
