What club? What league?

The arrogance on this board is awful. Judgments about kids and teams w/o ever knowing who they are. Parent is asking a legit question hoping to help child and then gets some anonymous person with a response like this.

+1. It was a ridiculous statement, that’s why it was mocked.

Live in DC kid plays on another club in the area(not Stoddert, Arlington or Mclean). Stoddert is not on the same level with Arlington or Mclean. Those clubs have their limitations/problems but Stoddert is a club of convenience. The kids who are serious about soccer in NW DC play for BSC, Mclean or Arlington. It’s takes a full season for the kids coming from Stoddert to get up to speed with proper coaching. Mclean coaches call Stoddert “Mclean East” because they get so many kids from DC.

Mclean boys ECNL. Drive is not too bad from DC(may be able to car pool). They tend to favor technical kids. Arlington has a lot of teams but they were DA now ECNL. So they are pretty deep. They tend to favor the more athletic kids. Drive from DC is easy. BSC former DA now MSL league. They are deep and the drive can be a pain from DC. On the boys side Arlington and BSC top teams are very competitive.

If you are just looking for a team to play. Try Arlington. They are cheaper(even if you are out of county), have a boat load of teams(they can scrimmage if league play stops) and it could be the easiest drive. Do not worry about the which team you get.

A club that is within a 15 minute drive should suffice. Don't make it more complicated than that.

What about Maryland United? Any input on their program?

Maryland United is a bit of a hike from DC.

To be honest I doubt anyone is going to play more than a scrimmage or two this Fall.

BSC, Potomac down to 2 teams in some age groups. Haven't checked the Virginia teams yet. Anyone know about those?

Bsc (moco) I think cannot have full games until phase 3. I don't see phase 3 happening anytime soon. ..not even in early fall but they maybe able to do 5v5 or scrimmages in phase 2. We are usually the last to move phases. But they are planning to start practices on time from what I hear.

If you're looking for full games, Nova clubs seem to move phases before us. But for full games its a crap shoot.

Given that the Soccerplex league was just issued a cease and decist order for their Montgomery County 5v5 League, I don't think Montgomery County will be having games any time soon.

For fun, MSI Recreation League. For more competitive, MSI Classic League. Practices will be nearby, but games could be further away.

D.C. schools cannot practice in Phase 2 and groups are limited to 11 or 12 people. I don’t know if this applies to clubs. Phase 3 is highly unlikely in DC anytime soon.

Eye roll. Kids come from all over to try out for ECNL teams--that is why ECNL teams are strong. McLean is a big club and typically has one strong team on the boys side, maybe two in a good year. Anyone can make the club.

Sure Stoddert is great! Top club in the area. The coaching is fabulous. This is why they are alway listed as a top club in the area.
