PGCPS plan for return to school?

I assumed that this was a potential scenario depending on how things continue to play out, but it seems early to rule it out now for the last two quarters of the school year.

I agree it sounds like that from the info I posted. I think they are saying they will start off with hybrid in February.... but assume if the COVID situation is very low we'd move into in person full day as soon as we could.

No one really likes distance learning.

I wonder how structured this will be. Must students log on a specific time and complete work? Or would that be optional? Every ones hope life and needs are different. I will be working from home with a kindergartener that doesn’t know how to use a computer, let alone most of his letters. I could work with him after work and at night only.

Will anyone be able to listen in to the town hall? If so, could you please provide important notes here? I will not be able to listen in

Our principal said today that we'd be expected to be teaching a regular school day, i.e. 9 to 3 or whatever, via computer. Breaks for lunch and bathroom of course, but the expectation was kids would sit down, open up their chromebook, and be "in school" face to face for most of the day.

Aside from the obvious questions as to whether that much computer time is at all developmentally appropriate, I'm not sure what will be done for families where this schedule isn't possible.

As for your K not knowing how to type ... I assume we teachers are going to have to figure all that out. Distance learning for the little ones is very, very hard.

The townhall was an in depth hour long Q&A so it would be difficult to provide a full recap. Is there anything specific that you wanted to know about?

Will students be expected to sit at a computer all day? Even kindergarten?

What does the attendance policy look like?

Will students have the option to not attend live sessions and just complete the work?

Thank you!

I found the complete Q&A. I hope that it's useful

Unfortunately, they didn't provide any detail on how the livr instruction would be structured. I know that a lot of parents asked for it, but hopefully it will be optional.
