Should Lee Mount Vernon Sports Club (LMVSC) change their Name?

Ironic that you’re calling people snowflakes while acting like an overly sensitive child. Was the pharmacy out of Midol?

I’m really going to miss our time at the club. Going from a competitive environment with teams wining State Cups, qualifying for National League, winning in big showcases like Disney and such... transforming into a drastically reduced program that can’t decide what they should do, and when there is a decision made, it doesn’t fix the problem. Oh and being called a snowflake for wanting name change or a racist for not wanting name change.

What a difference in such a short time.

No no NO. And drop it already. You don’t like it, sorry!

As I understand it, a snowflake is someone who is too weak to perform under pressure, offends easily and is too delicate to receive criticism (even the constructive variety), and/or is quick to capitulate to the demands of others.

In doing a little research: snowflakes have an "inflated and unwarranted sense of entitlement and are overly emotional". It also looks like it was a term used in the late 1800s and early 1900s to describe individuals who opposed abolishing slavery.

Look around your community and our society. Yes. It’s a great time to change.

I said yes a few posts back, but now I'm updating my response as "it doesn't matter" (we just changed club names by changing clubs).

Agree it's a great time to change. Maintaining names that were adopted for the stated purpose of honoring and celebrating the Confederacy is unconscionable and cements an unequal educational/sporting environment for POC. Shame on LMVSC organization and the ignorant privileged who eye roll, deny racism and fear inclusion.

I mean with the state changing names of schools and roads and everything else associated with Lee and other confederates. I don't see how Lee Mt Vernon can keep their current name.
