Do I tell our babysitter that I knew her brother who passed away?

OP here. We did tell her and she was very grateful that we did. Apparently this kind of thing wasn't unusual for her to hear and she's thankful every time it happens. It gave us a chance to share some memories. Thank you for your input and encouragement.

She thinks of her brother all the time. Talk about his LIFE, not that he was on the way to your class when he died. Talk about the positive aspects of him being a student. Even if he was a bad one talk about his humor or his style or how he flirted with someone homely to make them feel good. Find something positive to say.
