Right, but it's only one week. We're still in early July. What will she do the rest of the summer? |
So helpful. I’m not made of money. |
We would go see family. |
OP here and yeah this has been amazing. We love the pool but omg it’s a lot of work. And I’m not sure we could go more than 2x a week? I do not know. I would hope so! |
Pool |
If you can get time in the morning before it is crazy hot or evening when partner can go with you, I would say pool. 2 hours in the pool is a good amount of time especially if you are solo with 2 non swimmers.
If you can only get time at 1-3, I would do camp |
It’s open 9-7, and I can manage alone. My weirdo husband hates the pool. |
Definitely pool |
Pool
I am so glad ours opened this summer. We go everyday for two hours in the afternoon. When my kids were your kids age, I always had everything reorganized the night before and ready to go. |
Thanks for the input.
I’m waiting to hear back about the pool. If it is only 2x swimming per week, that is not worth it! If it is more, then maybe. But 2x a week isn’t so great, and won’t make a dent in the rest of the summer. I am kind of leaning towards camp because my kids are SO happy and they’re gone 8-3:30. It’s heavenly. And then in August we’ll go visit family. |
The huge caveat is that we might be limited to 2x a week! ![]() |
With that addition, camp. And get a kiddie pool for your backyard or a splash pad for them to play with. |
You are a SAHM and you send a 1.5 yo to “camp” from 8-3? What? |
Will your pool allow for same day reservations, i.e., that would permit you to go more than a few hours a week? We just got our membership and even though we can only sign up for two weekday and one weekend slot in advance, we've been able to go daily thanks to the same day option. It's never super crowded. If so, I'd do that and aim to take them earlier in the day, when it's less crowded.
Camp is great but only one more week? Less helpful. |
Our pool has been open about 3 weeks and it's been AWESOME. We can only go for 90 minutes reservations, but it's perfect for my kids (who are also 3.5 and 6). My older one had started swimming last summer, and is getting better and better. The BEST part was that my 3.5 year old spent a week watching and practicing and has already started a bit of swimming too!
I thought we'd be in the shallow end all summer, but now we can do a lap lane, which opens our options for reservations. Also, 90 minutes of swim really tires them out! I'd pay double this summer, honestly. |
