Please explain? I’m not following how this is a bad thing. |

All that was said initially was that the partnership didn't seem to make sense. You all are projecting that the team is mocked as being stupid or the decision ridiculed or that an anonymous parent is being mean. No one said that.
Help us understand the reason for the partnership. If Metro bought training curriculum, great. The press release said nothing of the sort, but that would be a reasonable explanation. Maybe other clubs would buy the same curriculum, too. From all appearances, the partnership doesn't make sense on its face - one team is in Virginia, the other all the way across the country; one team is NWSL, the other GAL; Thorns is an ECNL franchise, while DC Metro is GAL, etc. What does a NWSL team have to gain by affiliation with a GAL team from across the country when there are hundreds of teams closer geographically or better run or larger in size or in existence longer or part of ECNL or with better staff or with consistent production of better players? Is it a co-branding thing? Is it an attempt to generate interest in NWSL as a league? Is it to bring kids and pros into contact with one another? Is it because the coaches know one another? Is it because Tobin Heath is moving to Virginia because there is so much money spent here on soccer? Is it a money thing? If so, who pays who and for what? The question "Why?" seeks explanation, not judgment. |
| Yes to the above. Just explain the situation. Stop being a snowflake. Granted, one moron was obnoxious but just ignore him/her. |
Those are all great questions. Time will tell what the arrangement is. |
| Why is no one talking about protecting the children? Please keep them indoors during these dangerous times. They are our future. Please please sanitize and stay at home for safety sake |
How does a press release endanger the children? |
The money spent in Virginia does not compare to other parts of the country. Especially the West Coast and Northeast. |
I want to know what the relationship is also. No one can explain yet, hasnt been discussed publicly just announced to everyone. 6 posters of first dozen or so were obnoxious, dont be dishonest, it probably isnt one moron. |

Mark Parsons, who’s a phenomenal coach, is a former Spirit coach. He still has connections to Metro staff. In this age of remote meetings there’s a lot that can be shared. I imagine metro staff have ideas for this new partnership, so we will all see where it goes.
Which other area elite options have arrangements like this with a premier NSWL club? |
| Kumbaya my lord, kumbaya. |
Having a connection with a pro club thousands of miles away is fantastic. |
Arrangements? Do you mean having friends at nwsl clubs? I’m sure most area ecnl/ga clubs do. |
So how does this affect you or your club? How does this offend you? If it is a pointless and worthless arrangement at a pointless and worthless club why do you bother to post at all? |
Check out the posts above. |
| This person is a Metro hating imbecile who is negative about any Metro related topic. Most normal people on this forum have figured it out and filter out the garbage. |
