| Why is EDP > CCL? |
DP here. My kids played in both EDP and CCL. I prefer EDP model. It has an open system with some form of promotion and relegation. Accordingly, any team can join and compete. The talent rises to the top and the underwhelming teams move to lower divisions where they face more appropriate competition. Of course, it is not perfect and some teams do get misplaced, but the concept is good. It is a much bigger league than CCL and has teams all over Atlantic coast. It is weaker than ECNL or MLS league, but the top divisions are pretty good and top teams would be competitive against ECNL and MLS teams. Lower divisions are weaker, but not every kid is born to play on a top level team. CCL is more of a closed system with guaranteed membership, which has good teams compete against much weaker teams. I like both leagues, but I think CCL model does not foster competition as much as EDP does. I would say that CCL model is pretty good for younger ages if the coach truly focuses on development, but older teams need more competitive games for players to improve. |

Coach here:
I've coached in EDP and had kids in CCL. In my opinion EDP is better as the competition is better controlled due to promotion and relegation. Travel distances can vary by gender/age group, but as more clubs and teams join those distances have been closing down. I think I only had to leave the DC/VA/MD area once per season for a WV game. |

Damn trolls at it again. The question was about Barca's program, not about CCL < EDP. Also, if you are a senior and just now looking to get recruited, you are too late.

Oh yeah there are In ODSL. If your kid wants to be recruited at this point attend any every ID camp throughout the country. |
