How do you work at home with puppy??

If you keep him on a leash will he sleep at your feet? I work with our puppy asleep at my feet much of the day. I take breaks for little indoor fetch when I am on a call and am not the one talking. He is no longer on a leash but we was in the early days of house breaking.

We got our puppy at 8 weeks and he is now almost 16 weeks old. He has calmed down a lot, mostly sleeps through the night (last night 8:30-7) is a lot less city and needs a lot more exercise. I run him around with dogs at a park near us in the morning and that makes for a calmer day. When he was younger I would walk him probably 4 times a day getting progressively longer. Sometimes being on work calls when I was on walks.

Also, I play "relax my dog" music. It is searchable on Amazon prime and Apple Music. All relax my dog music is spa music but not all spa music will relax my dog.

OP here. Daytime crate time is really what I need when I need to be on a call, focused, and or on a video call and I cannot watch him. I have tried to plan these times with his naps to no avail. When he is sleeping and at my feet, I am 100% ok with that. But he needs to be safe when I cannot give him attention and the crate is my only option there.

#1- get a flirt pole and do it 3-4 times a day for 3-5 mins each. Will tucker him right out
#2- get an expen. Don’t stick your dog in a crate all day. Crate is for bed time. Expen is for calm time when not sleeping. More space and put it near you. Amazon has for less than 60
#3- keep his mind active. Take empty plastic bottles and peel off labels and stick a treat in there (or ice). Will keep him busy for 30 mins trying to get cap off..

You shouldn’t be letting him sleep at your feet! he’s confused and doesn’t know why you won’t let him sleep at your feet all the time. He’s like a baby and wants to be near you all the time. All his naps need to be in his crate. No exceptions. Put him in, say nap time and put a blanket over most of the crate (I leave the bottom 4” inches open for fresh air.

I have been doing daytime crate when he is drowsy or already asleep but he just wakes to a fury and never settles down again. I leave him for about an hour (shorter than the typical nap) and then let him out. He ends up sleeping outside the crate. If I leave him to cry it out during the day, am I teaching him to hate the crate more and be more aggressive the next time he is in there?

If you let him out while he is barking and making a fuss, you are inadvertently reinforcing that behavior. If you can, try to let him out of the crate during a quiet moment.
