Yes this. I contacted Sonshine and they said camp will be a lot smaller than usual and if they need to go inside for weather etc they will and have plenty of room to spread out. They have cancelled assemblies though and other things they would normally do indoors.

Also have been trying to get an answer to the DC residents question and no camp will respond.

I also asked Lowell (re: their Calleva camp) and am waiting for a response. Sounds like camps aren't sure whether/how this applies.

Camp JCC in Rockville is waiting for answers from the state regarding the "how," but they have repeatedly said that they plan to open

Valley mill emailed today to say the no out of state policy means no dc or Virginia kids. They said they’re in conversation with the governor’s office to try to find a solution, but as of right now DC campers are not allowed. Blergh!

I don't see how they could run the buses in DC anyway, so the only DC kids would be those whose parents can drive them to the camp.

Why couldn’t they operate in DC?

We were planning to drive our kids in from DC

I think Valley Mill should just cancel for its DC residents. Why would Hogan adjust his policy when it primarily helps people who aren't his constituents? Also with the protests, coronavirus rates in DC are bound to go up.

Barrie Camp has a tentative start date of July 6. Their camp is mostly outside. Not sure what they are going to do about swimming. They emailed and said they were not allowing DC residents to attend.

I can't see any way to run buses full of kids while maintaining distance and ratios. They'd have to run way more buses, because you could put fewer kids on each bus. The limits are something like 9 kids and one counselor in a group. They'd have to run a dozen buses.

KAH is open for older kids June 15.

KAH is hoping to be open for all (right now just confirmed for older kids) but they may have to close on bad weather days. They are amazingly flexible, which is to say if the camp looks full sign up for the waitlist as I am sure that will move.

The VA camp my kid is attending just canceled their bus from MD because they couldn't make it work, even raising the prices for the bus.
