I retired at just shy of 61 and I was able work out a deal where I stayed on my companies health care plan for four years until I reached Medicare age. I paid 100% but I’m sure it was better than being completely on my own. Right now my wife and I are paying about $1200 a month for Medicare, a supplement and a drug plan. Given the low deductible it’s a fair deal. We pay the maximum Medicare rate.

It's about $200 for part B which is drugs, exams etc. For hospitalization it's very complicated. Our total is closer to $1400 per month, not $1200.
