I'm not sure how other schools are doing it, but TWSB has one teacher teaching it and one teacher who is looking at the students to give corrections. |
Noit’s not. I’m a former dancer. All professional dancers are making zoom tapes if themselves taking classes I. Kitchens, living room, hanging onto staircases. You can retake class anywhere, even outdoors. Teachers are presenting classes by zoom. I take class with the Royal Ballet each day but I do it in our pool because I’m old. I’m on feeds showing class around the world. Thus has been going on since Feb in the professional world. Go to youtube |
| Sorry for typos above. I’m in the pool taking class right now while typing on my tiny phone |
+1 There will be an uptick in injuries. Ballet schools have floors designed to absorb impact; dancing regularly/frequently on hard surfaces at home is just asking for overuse injuries. |
| Former dancer here again. Go to Ballerina de Tutu Facebook page and you can see what the pros have been doing to keep up with daily class since Feb. I now get it on my daily feed. Often professional class is offered by renowned teachers on a daily basis. Also you can find the Royal Ballet’s daily morning class on YouTube. |
And how much are you paying for these classes where you get no corrections and no in person training? |
This. No performance opportunities, partnering classes. Money grab by SAB not to discount tuition. |
|
Ballet schools are in survival mode. Serious students need ballet schools to become professionals in the future. So perhaps a tuition reduction is in order, to keep everyone from going under. The question is, how much? |
I'd be interested to know how many people they are going to get. They would rather have a couple of people at full price than most people at a discount. I think if they did half price or even 25% off we would consider it. |
Pp with dad who danced until 19. You and dancers like my dad can certainly take online classes as the pros currently are as you were pro level dancers which is completely irrelevant to pre-pro and below who need corrections all the time to learn. |
Exactly. And these classes are free! |
| I think that all programs do some discounts for online courses |
| SCOOL? |
| I think that there’s a value to it but it’s common for online instructions to be offered at a lower cost... |
My DD has been doing ballet via Zoom, 5 days per week. She doesn't need to see the teacher; rather, the teacher needs to see the students as they go through their routine. The teacher tells the class what to do and tells them what they need to correct. If she needs to show them something, then she has them watch, but that is not often. Obviously this would not work for beginners, but it's fine for non-beginners. My DD has a portable ballet bar and a marley ballet mat so she won't ruin her shoes. She sets her phone in a tripod so her teacher can see her and she has a mirror positioned so she can see herself. Honestly, ballet has been a lifeline for my daughter -- it keeps her in shape, it keeps her focused, and it provides some zen amidst all this madness. |
