Getting so much more exercise running around with the kids but gaining weight...?

Stress. Can be a sole cause of someone not being able to lose weight even with a good diet, exercise, no thyroid issues, etc.

+1. I’ve done all kinds of food journaling, macro monitoring, clean eating whole 30 whatever and the best indication of if I will lose weight is whether I’m stressed or hormonal.

If you’re anxious or otherwise emotional you release cortisol (one more thing to worry about, I know!)

+1. Weigh and measure your meals for a few days. Keep a food journal.

Me too and I think it's the lack of walking daily for commute.
