S/O well-cast characters

Ozark. Especially Jason Bateman and Julia Garner .

This is a fun thread.

DC and I agree that the "Frasier" casting is perfect. Thinking about "what might have been" points that out even more. Originally the part of Roz went to Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe on "Friends"). So, Frasier fans, picture Kudrow as Roz....nope. Clearly the casting folks got it right the second time. Nothing against Kudrow, she just would not have been right for Roz as written.

And David Hyde Pierce in particular is brilliantly cast as Niles. Probably the least-talked-about best casting ever. Even after a million re-run viewings, his acting never stales.

Totally different type of show, but in "Longmire," the casting overall is great. Even though I've seen Robert Taylor in other things (and heard his own, real Aussie accent), as soon as I see and hear him as Walt Longmire I can't picture him as anyone else, nor can I imagine a Walt who isn't him. My DH has read all the Longmire novels and says the TV Walt is perfect for the character that DH pictured. (And if you haven't seen "Longmire," hey, check it out, mystery/drama/cop fans.)

Outlander -- I read the books before I saw the show though the show had started by then. I saw a still of the show after I had started the books and thought, "Wow they found Jamie, how did they do that?" All the other characters seem to fit too.

Lord of the Rings -- every character as I imagined them from the books

Harry Potter -- same.

Agree with all of the above, but especially Sam Heughan. Sam is 100% book version of Jamie Fraser.

Absolutely. It is actually eerie that there was an actor out there who almost exactly matched the detailed description of him in the book. Caitriona Balfe is not exactly how I imagined Claire, but I think she acts the part so well the physical differences (from the version in my head) that I think she is very well cast too.

I had a hard time understanding Blake Lively as Serena in the beginning of the show. The main character was talking about how unbelievably beautiful she was in the beginning and I just couldn't buy it. But then I got into the show and started to kind of see it. It made me a fan of Blake Lively, although I still think she has that sort of face that I can't figure out if it's very plain or very beautiful. Same with Gwyneth Paltrow. Both of them have that kind of face with a great body and blonde hair.

Hmm interesting- I thought she was stunning in the show (helped along by her amazing body and wardrobe). I could imagine every man in a room staring at her and I thought she played the part really well.

And just to add I feel the same way you do about Gwyneth Paltrow- generally I find her face plain. I think Blake is beautiful.

I remember seeing David Hyde Pierce on SNL, and he was funny in every single skit, and that never happens!

Longmire is also great for the western house porn and gorgeous scenery.

I agree with Sam Heughan as Jaime on Outlander. Funny that the author initially (like from a picture) didn't think he was right for the part. But that doubt was short lived.

Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I never read the book but I think Wilder is the only actor who could've pulled off that role (based on the screenplay).

The whole cast of Clue. I can't play the board game without imagining those characters from the movie and how they were portrayed.
