Same with McLean.

That is TOTALLY not true. You must not have read the fine print.

You must pay $800 upfront--prior to 9/1. Though you don't have to pay any further if soccer is postponed.

You are right. How sneaky of them. I guess if the season gets cancelled and they keep $800, there will be a lot of pissed off parents and the club will take a big hit next time they have to extend offers.

How is this sneaky? All of you actually read the agreements and figured it out, which is called average adult behavior. You only think it is sneaky if somehow you think you're smarter than everybody else.

No, the reason I think this is sneaky is because the offer letter did not mention this detail. It only stated that the player registration deposits were reduced to $200 and explained the no play, no pay policy: "No Play, No Pay - If the season is delayed beyond August 31, 2020, then future payments would be delayed until programming begins." This is misleading, if you don't also mention that the parents will be charged $800 before the season starts. The club decided to hide it in the fine print in one of the several agreements attached to the electronic registration, which is fine, but sneaky nonetheless.

I think the phrase “no play, no pay” is sneaky but if you just saw the dates, you could pretty easily figure out that’s what they were doing.

Vienna.

At Vienna, there is an August payment scheduled but it was stated that it will be deferred until return to play. They also said that they will lower fee commitments if the season isn’t fully played.

Also, the initial $400 deposit - due at the time of offer acceptance - was equal to the credit that returning players were refunded for the Spring season... So returning players were due zero in order to signed up for the Fall, and will pay nothing more until the season starts.

New players had to pay a $400 deposit, but the scheduled August payment will automatically be deferred until the season starts. So definitely not $800.

That seems fair to me.

Clarification on McLean. Registration deposit was reduced from 400 to $200 (which happens to be a little less than the amount being refunded so basically $0 reg deposit fee). However, payments due July 1, August 1 (each $300) before the 'no pay no play' kicks in. So yes, 800...though $200 of it was credit from spring season. Still....

Vienna has more money than most clubs.

Our club is basically looking at the year as a whole and breaking it down between soccer league games and tournaments....and everything else. If there are no soccer leagues or tournaments, then that money will be divided equally and refunded in full. However, if there is still training going on or being offered, the rest of the money will not be reimbursed unless training is stopped due to field closures/lockdown, then it will be reimbursed on a pro rata basis based on the amount of training that was done.

Bethesda is a pay - who knows if you will play. Ridic. But I have the most amazingly kind son and soccer is his ‘thing’ so I’m paying.

Villarreal is $25 deposit with reduced overall fees that won't start until season begins.
