Horse owner here: Horses are a very expensive kind of “pet.” They are both fragile and dangerous. Shrieking out of control children and horses don’t mix. Dangerous to both parties. Not every horse is suitable for camp and not every kid is suitable with a horse. I can see drawing a line at “ just stay away from the horse” |
No, but they poop and pee in public places if you let them, which isn't good for the environment. |
| They annoy you, because the reason they love animals so much is that animals don't have inconvenient opinions that clash with theirs. Most of the real animal lovers I know don't like people. They can't handle the give and take. |
| The first few weeks with a pet are a learning and bonding experience. I doubt they will be like this five years from now. |
| The only people I know like this do not have children. It doesn’t bother me, I’m happy they have something to love and care for. |
I agree with PP. You are obviously upset and started this thread because you're upset. It's okay to be upset. Maybe your next step should be to figure out why. |
Yes. I never thought to ask the rate because I was too stunned, sorry. Not OP. |

My step-mom is like this. Her dogs are her children. It rarely impacts us because they live in another city. When it does impact us, however, it's a difficult situation. One of their dogs is aggressive, unpredictable and not suitable for children. We visited them and, after trying it for a day, asked that the dogs stay at her mom's for the remaining two days of our visit. Her dogs often stay at her mom's so it wasn't a huge change. She harped on it constantly about missing her dogs...for two days straight.
Of course our solution now is to stay somewhere else when we visit but her attitude about it is annoying. |
THIS IS THE TRUTH. |
| The only people I know that are like this don't have children. They are more obsessed with their animals than anyone I know with children. And yes, they won't be social much because they are constantly worried about leaving their dogs. They even chose jobs with staggered hours so that one of them is always home with the dogs. It seems f'ng nuts to me, but to each their own I guess. |
OP here. Boy is this the truth!! My DH always says he likes animals more than people. And I respond with, of course you do because they have no problem with the your way or the highway attitude! To me that’s one of the stupidest things people say. It obviously means you want everything your way with zero compromise. |
OP here. Yes they don’t have children. |
OP here. No I’m not upset! It’s not like we were bffs. It’s just so annoying how people treat their animals. Also, they have been hinting like crazy to be able to bring their dog to my home for dinner parties. I can only imagine how that would go!! Watching her suck face with the dog all night long under the dinner table while feeding it my filet mignon. Ugh

LOL! No way. I like dogs but no.way. |
