Is the Youth Soccer model under threat?

Anonymous
Youth sports will survive, but our model sucks and it’s good that it’s under threat.

To the jackass posting about people being insecure and “my children will pass you on the lane”, nobody cares, but I hope you can get the attention and sense of superiority you crave from gloating about your superiority on an anonymous forum. You are a cancer.

So much running around trying to keep kids happy, FOMO, keeping up with others, etc has all become more apparent in recent months. ‘Why are we doing all this?’ Is being asked by more and more kids today and those clubs that think they can go back to normal right away are in for a big shock.

Great. Follow the herd in, follow the herd out. It's the same mentality either way. Nobody with talent cares one bit, whether in sports, school, or professional life. I am sure the same mentality will seep in many places, including academics. Frankly, it's just slack and slovenly. Fine with me. My children will see you in the passing lane. Enjoy the lockdown.

There is no I in team buddy but if your kid can train and play without the other kids you just mocked, good luck.

I sure hope he is in the passing lane because he needs to hurry to get to his job at McDonald's to cook the french fries by the time my kids arrive.

pay to play is under threat for sure

I hope so it’s a racket and totally unhealthy for families. Bring back neighborhood play!

IT's no more under threat than any other organized sport. Will they all see some drop off when things open up? Probably. Will soccer be worse? I can't see why it would be.

Back when the US could actually compete in the World Cup, the core of the team did not come from fancy, high-price travel leagues but kids coached by parents, streetball and HS. Quote of the movie: "There were no soccer moms driving you around." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=havPy5C2XIU

Hard to see hitchers like you from the passing lane, and in any event no handouts for your kids or you at McDonald's when the pandemic ends, so don't waste your time or somebody else's gas. Nice try but you're definitely barking up the wrong tree, little doggie. Now go find a fire hydrant and get on with your business. Then go watch Good Will Hunting again to get the lines right. You like Apples?

Private travel teams have hurt communities, because they take the kids and families out of them.

I'm not sure that is what hurts communities.
