What do you pay for daycare during Corona?

In VA. Our daycare dropped to a “reservation fee”, but we are paying close to full tuition because we need it to exist when this is all over.

We are currently very fortunate in that we have not yet faced salary cuts. We will pay until we do.

I am fully paying while they are closed. We are lucky enough to be able to work from home and have not faced salary cuts (yet) so it’s the right thing to do. If we do face financial consequences like salary cuts or God forbid one of us loses our job then we will have to stop paying.

We paid for April, but are not paying again until they reopen for all children (currently they are open for children of essential workers only).

We received a $700ish stimulus check for child-related expenses. We've used a good chunk of it to buy my elementary-aged children desks, some school and craft supplies, a new printer, ink, and paper.

I think that smaller daycares will be in higher demand. But the reputable small ones are always in demand.

BH is in many federal offices. I believe they will coordinate to reopen when they can and I don’t think it’ll be 6 months.

Spouse and I are still working so we're still paying full tuition each week because if we didn't the day care center likely wouldn't be there by the time this clears up.

Agree. DCUM seems to wildly overestimate how slowly we will re-open.

Our center said the earliest they though they might open was the end of June, but said it could easily be later July or August, and of course even later or never is also possible. Hard to justify paying 1/3 tuition indefinitely.
