OP-Despite you asking for opinions, I think you hit the nail on the head more than any of the other pps. I would bet that there is something disarming about you as a brunette. You're new-found self-consciousness must be making you much more approachable. |
Just don't go "Ginger" on us! ![]() |
Hilarious. I hear my non-blonde friends always commenting on how many blondes there are in DC. I am guessing they might specifically mean in our "circles" of DC I dont necessarily agree but my brunette friends say they feel like they stick out, especially amongst the "private school moms" in NWDC. |
OP again... just got re-hired by my former employer and got a promotion in the deal! I'm telling you... this brown hair is da BOMB!! |
I noticed the same thing, I went from bleached blonde to brown with some blonde highlights. I also took out my extensions.. ha I hardly get hit on anymore but people do talk to me more at the grocery store, much to my chagrin! |
Personally, I'm happy to not get hit on as much. I've been blonde for over 20 years and I can tell you, the guys who are doing the hitting-on are not worth a damn. The attention is amusing and flattering, but gets you no where and seems to be a shit-magnet, honestly. I'll take my brown hair with some blonde highlights and lots of conversations with decent people (male and female) over getting eyeballed and catcalled by rude men anyday. Change your bait and catch a better fish! |
But OP was talking about a classy tasteful blonde, which is different from bleach blonde with extensions ... those are two entirely different looks that are going to attract different kinds of guys and not really what OP was talking about IMO ... |
I think it's amusing that almost all of these posts are talking about dyed/colored hair. What's up with that? Were all of you so unsatisfied with your natural hair color that you had to mess around with it ad nauseam? Why is everyone so obsessed with fake? I'm a natural dark blond, and yes, I could have gone lighter but what's the point? Once you start coloring your hair it's a vicious cycle of dissatisfaction and thrown away money. |
everyone knows blondes do have more fun..... |
I was a towheaded blonde when I was little and like most of us my hair has darkened as I've gotten older. I highlight it just to get it back to the blonde it was when I was in high school and college. I look my best this way and feel the most like myself. No dissatisfaction here, no feeling of money wasted, and no temptation to mess around with trying out different colors... though I don't think there is anything wrong if people do that, and I think your "all natural is always best" tone is off-putting and probably disingenuous anyway, unless you don't shave or wear makeup or get haircuts or anything else. |
Joan Bennett went from a pretty face to a stunning beauty when she went brunette. |
"Change your bait and catch a better fish! "
Why bother? All men are dogs. |
You win for the weirdest old obscure reference today. (Or lose, as the case may be.) Some people look better blonde. Some people look better brunette. Thank heavens we don't all look alike, right? |
But that's self-described. How many people do you know that would describe their own fried bad blonde hair as "cheap brassy blonde"? It might have been either, but who knows? |
