Np Than this thread isn't for you because clearly you don't love animals! |

We did when kids were 2 and 4. I was home and very serious about training so it worked out well. It would be hard if you work out of the home.
FYI with small kids you’ll have to adopt a puppy. At least that’s what I was told by multiple groups. |
Most of them. Common knowledge. You don't need to be aggressive. I hope your rescue dog doesn't maul your kids. I really do. |
NP but this is not true that most of them restrict you from adopting if you have kids under 12. You can adopt, but only puppies. I was also told they make exceptions if the dog's personality is well known (i.e. it's been fostered with kids of similar ages and has been okay), but with young kids they really want you to adopt a puppy. |
| We’ve been looking for another dog as well. No rescues in our area will work with us as our youngest is 4. I’ve never gone through a breeder and would hate to do it given how many dogs there are in shelters. |
| We’re looking at puppies of a specific, kid friendly breed, and the local reputable breeders asked us to wait until our youngest is at least five. He just turned three. It seems reasonable to me. |

| We just adopted an 8 year old weimaraner. He's a delight. Just got married again and my husband didn't think he could handle a puppy. This guy is just great. We had to work on the potty training, but it's been fairly easy. He has energy for my runs, but is very chill in the house. |
