No, Teams actually sucks, but they shouldn't use Zoom either.

You use password and invite, they apparently posted it live on website

It was a meeting open to the public. How else do you invite the public?

Zoom was not the right platform for this.

Zoom can be the right platform with security features used. Zoom webinars restrict the video and audio to identified "panelists". Everyone else joins as participants who can't share or annotate the screen or speak to the group. You can add other restrictions to restrict chatting and not allow participants to change their display name. The public can be invited but the public wouldn't be able to take over video or audio.

This. I've already been on several public calls like this, and it went perfectly. You just have to know how to use the tech properly.

Can someone explain, I get that they didn't password it but I don't get how someone can broadcast a video without permission. Can anyone just screenshare at any moment? Or was it just on their little box and hopefully that was not maximized? Also would they not be muted by the organizer? How badly was this handled and why did it take so long to shut it off? Is it that hard to remove someone from a meeting, too?

Anyone can screen share at any moment if you don’t have it set up so that they can’t. Someone didn’t do their due diligence.

+1

Or even if it was hard to do that quickly the facilitator of the meeting has an end this meeting button at the bottom of the screen so they could quickly click that and just shut down the meeting.

I can't believe no one has taken the opportunity to point out that this is clearly evidence that Charters underpay their staffs and that this is further evidence that Charters are bad for public education. If none of you will make the point, I'll do it.

What???? You are crazy to make that jump just because of this issue. So I guess fairfax county schools underpay their staff too and are bad for public education too because they had similar issues with zoom?

They say inability to recognize sarcasm is a sign of lack of intelligence. Just saying....
