Please. Its not even healthy people. Look at those folks lining up for hours for social security pay outs and food banks. And the old people who cannot get outside who have been eating Dominos for a month. Get some perspective lady.

Try to be more understanding. It is possible to be aware that some people have it much worse while also feeling sad for your kid.

Oh I'm sorry. I'll try really hard to be more understanding of the totally entitled wealthy poster for whom everyone else's death and poverty is barely an inconvenience. You're absolutely right.

Where does it say UMCP has cancelled orientation?

Perhaps they've just postponed it if it was planned for early Summer.

Yeah, I believe everyone is holding their breath about football given that it's the lifeblood of some areas of America, but I just can't see mass gatherings of people to watch sports happening before we have a vaccine or a real treatment for this disease.

Uh, that’s not what she said, at all.

+1 She did not say that at all. They are just looking at being prepared in case that happens.

"State officials emphasized Salmon’s comments were about preparation and not a prediction of when schools will or won’t reopen."

The word from UMCP is that orientations will happen remotely. The powers that be are still determining exactly what form that will take. The priority will probably be the academic advising piece of orientation--which is probably the easiest part to handle via distance learning platforms and conferencing software.

That was not how I interpreted it. Schools should make plans for possible distance learning since it's the responsible and proactive thing to do, but it doesn't mean it would happen. Let's not go overboard and misrepresent.

You sound really stressed and I'm really sorry for whatever you're going through right now. I'm also sorry for whatever OP's kid is going through right now. Your feelings do not negate OP's feelings. This is a crappy situation for everyone.

Kids were emailed by the school yesterday.

<< I believe everyone is holding their breath about football>>

You may be right, but that is messed up in my book.
