LOL! Great response! That is exactly what I did years ago. |
| My top shelf is also not closing all the way unless I force it or jiggle it. It is the same alignment problem to the water source where the piece on the shelf must align with the holes on the back wall. The shelf piece does shift side to side and up and down but it is clearly designed to do that for some reason. I'd guess maybe the weight on the shelf depending on what is loaded means that it needs to move a little to mate with the back. Did the zip tie really fix the issue? How did you know what position was the right one? It seems contra to the design... |
| After reading posts here, I contacted Bosch by phone and email. They said they couldn't walk me through it and would need a service call. Well, no. Got the top shelf to go in just right by jiggling it a bit! |

To make this clear for folks.
The top rack attaches at the back of the dishwasher to a water supply through a port when closed This is for spraying the lower dishes. Occasionally this shelf will get misaligned with the backport either from adjusting the height of the rack or sadly sometimes just running the dishwasher and then opening it. If it isn't aligned - your dishwasher will not close. Giving you this issue. To fix this problem... locate the port at the back of your dishwasher where it attaches to the rack. Now lower your rack appropriately to align with it. (You may want an empty dishwasher to see better) Now that you've got the right height to match the back. Pull out your rack again. Make sure to fully press in the rack adjusters and set it back to your usual heigh - ensuring that the bottom of the rack itself that has the port stays aligned with the port. I had to jostle mine a few times to ensure it stayed at the correct height before mine was fixed. I hope this helps. |
| Make sure the RINSE AID DISPENSOR is closed. |
| Buy a GE and you'll never have this problem. |
Another BTDT. Coffee mug handle and all. |
Hey man, thanks for the fix! I have same thing and understand the misalignment....however, I don't see anywhere that I could install a zip tie and fix it....can you share that? BYW your explanation is perfect and easy to understand, articulate! You must be a scientist <grin> |
Follow up: Turned out that there was some caked-up deposit around the mating surfaces that, when I used 6 ounces of full strength CLR solution in a no-load run, the mating pieces no longer needed jiggling or a hard press to close the upper rack - works like a charm now, although the zup-tie seems not to be a part of my model. |
Oh, and respectful Remembrance Day in Canada, same to you folks in USA for Veteran's Day. |
| lowering my shelf wasn’t an option because the turning sprayer would hit my plates. zip tie fixed it for me. |
| Newly delivered today. Inside stainless store below soap dispenser was a worn off area and it aligned with the metal rack with the Bosch logo “O” both rubbed together. Called appliance store repair service coming - I noticed this when installers van was still in driveway. Being told inside door could be replaced. But noticing that rack needs to be pushed back & worried this might continue & rust in those areas. For the price I want nee but if this is a issue with middle rack that you must push back before closing door then ugh bad design! |

After viewing number of comments, went back and checked to be sure upper rack was "level".
Was NOT, somehow had left side one notch lower than right side. Made appropriate adjustment. WALLAH! Smooth as when new. |
| These answers were helpful I lined up the water receiving holes with the water spigots on the back of the dishwasher with my fingers and the top rack went back and the door closed. |
