My 5 year old developed fever, body aches, and headache today

He will be ok!

We are not awesome at social distancing. DH has to go to the office and the grocery store, my teens and I have gone to Starbucks using mobile ordering, and I took my 5 yo to a 7-11. But our social interactions are down, like, 90 percent. And I got a sore throat. It was nothing (that I am aware of) but it was SO ANNOYING to get sick - made me feel like all of our efforts were futile.

Do you live in Kensington? If so, your neighbor was complaining about you recently can’t remember which thread, but you should look and see if you recognize yourself in their post.

+ 1. Please keep us posted.

Yes, everyone has heard the anecdotes of the ONE kid they have heard about, but remember there are billions of people in the world. Children aren’t dying from this and yours will be ok. Also, at this point almost every case is fever AND cough AND shortness of breath. Also, I was wary of the ibuprofen claims too, but they’re not giving it in hospitals just in case. So I would stick to Tylenol.

Keep us updated. He will be ok!

The bolded is just not true. My family had (has) COVID. The symptoms include diarrhea, sore throats, congestion without mucus, fever, aches, loss of smell. Not everyone got the same combo of symptoms. Some got just one or two. No one but my grandparents had breathing issues. And before you all say I’m lying, yes, we had testing and yes, we have current hospitalizations.

What kind of privileged BS is that? So basically this PPS husband has to work and they’ve picked up a to go order. And people are complaining about her? Good lord. You people live in such a bubble. Insane.

It's not futile, PP. Even if you still got sick, social distancing limited the number of illnesses you could have picked up, and the number of people you passed them on to. Maybe you passed your sore throat to 2 people instead of 20. SD isn't just about personal protection, it's for the greater good. That's not futile.

OP - how is he doing?

Any updates OP? My 5 year old was up a few times last night saying his nose was stuffy and this morning has a headache and low grade fever. He hasn't been anywhere in 17 days and the rest of us have been taking social distancing quite seriously. If it's COVID that means one of us has been asymptomatic and gave it to him, he got it 18 days ago when he was last out, or my husband or I somehow brought it home from the grocery store or brief social contact from more than 6 feet away from someone who had it. I don't usually freak out about illness but there are so many unknowns here it's unnerving.

We had a virus come through with those symptoms plus a runny nose. So, keep in mind that even though symptoms may be similar to COVID 19, it may not be.

We have had a norovirus going around our house. It's befuddling to me because we've also been in except for walks and the parks since then. But I guess you never know.

Zinc, vitamin C, tylenol. Lots of fluids, chicken soup.

Masks for care provider and isolation. Seperate room and bathroom for the kid.

Not food poisoning? That seems so much more likely.

Anonymous wrote:Go sleep in his room, OP. Give only Tylenol in case it is COVID 19. I know you think it’s corona but chances are it’s just a typical kid virus that you’re immune to.

But I do understand your fear. DD, 22 months, had one of those kid-fevers for two days last week and I was a wreck. Then it went away as mysteriously as it appeared.

My 14 yr old had this two weeks ago. Tested negative for flu and strep. Was it covid? Who knows, but DC didn't have a cough. We did quarantine DC for 10 days.
