Georgia Irvin and Yield per Admission

Pollyanna is Georgia Irvin? Wow! That would be pretty deep cover.

God just leave her alone.

last year there was a british woman with a DC that always wrote in about how successful her time with Georgia was, ans how they got into all schools applied to - perhaps it is her! I think she was trying to do some marketing and justifying the expense.

Didn't know I suffered from multiple personality disorder but thanks for letting me know.

To the people who think that she helped, would you not have approached the schools that you applied to? Would good common sense have helped?
Could you be specific about what you were told that made a difference?

You know, I was thinking about this - especially since we received all wait lists or rejections. I don't see how is could hurt using a "consultant" (well, other than hurting your wallet.) Our director left so we didn't have anyone to advocate on our child's behalf (other than ourselves, and parents can't come across as a pain in the butt so we didn't push hard), so maybe we would have benefited from using someone. Or, maybe we would just be 3k poorer.

Also, wht about some of the others?

My question is related to these but has more to do with the choice of a specific consultant for the Wechsler test. In your opinion, or, even better, from your direct experience, are test results perceived differently by the schools, according to who examined the child? Bottom line: does a 98% score have a greater impact if it comes from a Georgia Irvin & Co rather than from a less known consultant?

you should have your child tested by someone who is really experiened. Each school provides a list. The test is not idiot proof so if the examiner messes up the instructions or scoring or interpretation, that could and will impact your child's score. I certainly would NOT have Georgia Irvin test my child. Are you sure she's even licensed to do so? You need to be a PhD. Check different school websites. There are some testers who are named more often than others.

No, but if the person who tests your child is not very experienced you run the risk of a faulty interpration or scoring. This is not based on personal experience but my recollection of IQ testing from psych 101 or 405 in college. I used one of the testers recommended on a school's website.

Georgia Irvin does not administer the WPPSI.

Georgia does not test for the WPPSI

shes gives a pre-test to tell you which weaknesses your child should work on for the real test (which I would consider "gaming the test")

Our child was assessed by Georgia & Pam. They did not provide any recommendations regarding problem areas. In fact, we didn't get any feedback at all, except the observation that our child was very bright.

We used her and did not find it very helpful. They actually told us our DC would not test well and we should maybe look at other schools. Turns out he tested very well and scored in the high 90s. I actually called them this week to follow up a quick question but to talk to them costs $100 per 15 minutes. the answer to my question would have taken 30 seconds to answer.

I would think she would be helpful if you very new to the area and wanted some help wading throuhg all the different options.
