Running -- Hate It

Anonymous
I have been an athlete since I was a child (gymnastics and ballet back then) and I am now 59. But at 18 I tried to run in a college running club and on the very first try my knees rattled and hurt. Instead, since then, I do power-walking, swimming, yoga, biking, hiking. Like a poster above, I walk so fast with a long stride so i often pass people who are jogging. But there is no bouncing and no jarring on my apparently tender and sensitive knee joints.

My only disappointment is that i have never been able to do triathlons due to my inability to run. Most of my college fellow-athletes are still competing in monthly triathlons. I would have loved to have participated.

I was running the rain cursing to myself last night. And this morning I worked out in my musty basement to a crappy amazon prime workout tape with some robot lady (need ideas for better HIIT videos). Oh well..I have a panty full of peanut butter and good health

2 hours of running? You are going to destroy your knees if you keep this up. You need to find some other things to do.

I was thinking the same. I am a regular runner but if OP is as fit as she claims, that is easily a half marathon. People shouldn't do a half marathon for their first run ever.

OP, I'm not a runner, but I have done fitness classes outside that include stadiums. Maybe that would be a good option, one lap, then up and down the stairs, etc. Get some good music and get going....
