None of it aged well, that's for sure.

It aged fine to me. But then again, I took it for what it was, entertainment.

Wow, no one has ever made that observation before! I never realized...Carrie = annoying and a bad friend. Thank you! Someone FINALLY said it, 20 years later!

Just the annual Carrie Bradshaw thread. OP thinks she has deep, unique thoughts. Turns out, not so much.

Carrie Bradshaw is a loser (2019)

Is it just me or was Carrie Bradshaw the most annoying character from the 90s? (2016)

I am re-watching it now--I've seen every episode but never in order. I never understood why everyone found her so annoying but I definitely see it now. I don't think she's a bad friend, she has her moments of bad but she does help them out a lot too, but she is CRAZY. The way she agonized over every little thing with Big--YOU are the reason he wouldn't commit. No one can deal with that level of nuts. And poor Aiden--she was terrible to him. She should have ended up with Berger--they really deserve each other.

I don't think she was a good friend. Totally self absorbed. And the episode where she wants to borrow money from Charlotte because she spent all of her money on shoes? And then tries to guilt her into it? Gaaaaaak. B!tch, I'd never give you a dime.

I loved the show in part BECAUSE Carrie was so imperfect. Often selfish, often annoying, bad with money, a smoker, a cheater, etc. We all have those moments - not the cheating necessarily, but moments where we are selfish or obnoxious or just not being a good friend or partner. It made the show funny and relatable - my friends and I would watch and bemoan her actions often. I personally have no interest in watching some angelic martyr who never screws up and sacrifices all for loved ones.

+1000

It's just entertainment. No need to take it seriously.

I loved SATC and loathed both movies. I try to erase them from my memory and let the end of their story be the last episode.

I am honestly embarrassed that 20-something me loved the show.
- Now 40something and finds it wretched and painful

Me too! (Only I’m not 40 haha). I looooooved that show when I was 20-27ish. I’m 38 now and thought to watch it last week for old times sake when my husband was away and oh my gosh, HORRIBLE.

I feel like in the first couple of seasons, this was the right take - and it was a much better show. I think the show bought its own BS after that and the tone really changed in a bad way.

I have a weird take because I watched this for the first time all the way through at 31 on maternity leave having never seen it before. It ended the week we brought our baby home and I was sick of not knowing anything about it during all the finale hullabaloo.
I totally agree that the first 2-3 seasons were great and then it very noticeably became All.About.Carrie. I have since learned that she became an executive producer around that time. It’s complete irritating that she was the only one who kept her bra on during sex. And the women were also having their first experiences with sexual stuff in their 30s that I remember discussing with my friends while we were in college. I hated Aidan and thought he was wrong from the word go. And I thought the affair storyline was pretty brave and VERY well done. But what I remember most is that Carrie turned every coffee shop conversation about one of the other women back to herself.
