best board games for 5 year old

They have scrabble junior.

I like card games. They are easier to bring on trips too.
Quiddler, Skip bo Jr. Sleeping Queens, Dragonwood.

Rivers, Roads, and Rails. My son is 9 and we've been playing it for years. Mostly played around age 5/6 but it is still in rotation.

competitive games aren't as popular in my house, especially the ones where you might get sent back toward the start (Chutes & Ladders, Candyland, Trouble, etc.)
