If he is a strong swimmer, a year-round team will accommodate him for the summer. It happens all the time. |
| This advice is spot on. If he is a serious swimmer with decent times many clubs will accommodate this. Reach out and share your specific situation. |
| pp is correct. Coming from Europe, he is going to want to swim long course meters. So, I would reach out to NCAP, SeaDevels and RMSC (KSAC and Rockville sites). At RMSC, he'd be in either NTG and Advanced Senior. For each club, you'd want to find out where they swim in the summer and how often they swim long course meters. First find out if they could possibly accommodate him, then ask those important questions. For instance, both KSAC HS groups swim at the Bethesda outdoor pool but the NTG group swims LC meters much more than the Advanced Seniors group. And note that the Bethesda pool is much closer to DC than the KSAC where they swim in the winter. Other clubs have similar arrangements. I think NCAP's outdoor pool is at Connecticut-Bel-Air so very close to NW DC (someone fill me in if they have another LC pool). So the NCAP AU site might be good, but they might be practicing elsewhere for most practices in the summer. |
| Sorry. Meant to say that Connecticut Bel Air pool is not near DC. |
| Do you think he will even be traveling to the US given the virus situation? Will the summer swim leagues go ahead? |
Good god. We can’t escape the freakout. |
| The Fish can take a good swimmer for summer. They practice mostly in Reston during the summer. |
The boy is going to be in DC area. His European club needs to write the closest teams to have him placed. If his coach cares, he will do it. |
Now they're canceling swim meets. |
| OP, is he still coming? |
