Actually, not true. I've been in third world countries (with my soccer crazy son) and he's played for Liverpool, Barcelona, etc. They widely franchise their brands.

My kids have gone to a couple of benfica clinics. Best coaching and training sessions I’ve seen in the DMV. Solid players in Benfica kits, with a few very good.

OP here. Thanks! This is the feedback I was looking for. I'm planning to have my DS attend an ID session. Happy to report back my observations.

It makes complete sense that these clubs would set up shop all over the U.S. Lots of money to be made thus my money grab comment. I'm curious to see if the training is indeed as advertised and is any sort of an improvement over the local clubs. Can't hurt to have some different brands, philosophies and methods to drive up competition in the marketplace. But, yeah, these are not pathways to the club academies. I kind of like it that Benfica calls it a "soccer school" as a differentiation from their academy.
