When did your kids stop having birthday parties?

Interesting. I'm 40 and I don't think I had a day in my life when I was uninterested in swings and climbing structures. At what age does the average child grow out of the "party at the park?"

Hah. Dh was thrilled when our dd was old enough to go to the park. He said he always wanted to swing and play on the playground (we live near an awesome one) but didn’t want to be accused of being a pedophile. He plays with them almost every day on the playground. Tag, hide and go seeks, swings.

I agree that most 10 year olds don’t want a playground.

I honestly can’t remember the last time my 10, almost 11yo, went to a playground.

My kids had big partiies until 10, now they celebrate with a sleepover or a small outing.

^^ the big teen milestones, we let them pick the summer vaca (summer bdays).
We are done with the big parties for a few years now and I do miss them alittle, they do grow up too fast.

My daughter is turning 11 and I never thought about this. I’m so glad I read this, I was thinking about a bounce house in our yard, lol. I’ll save that for my 8yo.

My 11 year old son would be happy to go to a home party with a bounce house.

6th grade was the last. And that was a sleepover type of thing. Kids and friends still recognized birthdays later ~ decorating lockers was a big deal in MS, gifts especially homemade cards and collages-type things were big in HS.

Or do you mean a whole-class party? My teen still enjoys his birthday parties, but they're just a few select friends.
