This. Unless she 5’9”+ and naturally athletic. Or under 110 lbs and extroverted.

Not true. Friend's kid started rowing in 9th. Not athletic at all. Had never rowed. Tall, for sure. The Hs is not a top program. By junior year was being recruited by D1 schools.

Not true. We have 3 of the top 5 nationally ranked programs here in DC. Each male team only has 2 recruited athletes. 1 female out of the 3 schools. All are STELLAR students. Girl is 5'9, shortest boy is 6'3"

Disinformation is only going to cause issues for this girl. Your friend can tell you what she wants, doesn't make it true.

Yes, my dd was recruited to row DI Princeton OP as a lightweight. Women have to weigh in for under 130 pounds. Larger women are called Open Weights. Men have lightweights and heavy weights. I bought some good books on Amazon when my dd was being recruited. She was recruited by about 20 major programs.

Have your kid do TBC summer rowing or whatever the one in VA is called. Have child look at stats for college rowing teams. Example...go to Princeton Crew website to look at rower stats or whatever schools. It is a great sport for recruiting. Good luck to your child. AMA

I suggest this kid was naturally athletic, and just didn’t yet know it. Crew athletes are powerful in a way I will never be.
